Employees care about . . . pay

Supposedly, employee surveys over the years have shown that most companies are staffed by people who see their relationship with management as the most important issue regarding their jobs. Of course, not any more. Compensation, once not even in the top three concerns, has jumped up the list.

Writing in Memphis Commercial Appeal, Jim Blasingame drops this bomb, a real “duh”:

A brand new survey, conducted by my friend, Chuck Martin, president of NFI Research, reveals that, perhaps for the first time ever, compensation topped the list of things most important to employees. But the big news is why. I think the answer is fear.
