Hotwire: Nashville hotel prices sliding

Posted on November 18, 2009 at 9:27 am

The latest Hotwire Hotel Rate Report has Nashville in the top 10 for first time. Not that that’s a good thing: The booking service says local prices are down 20 percent from a year ago, largely because hotel operators held off on repricing their rooms until early this year.

Watching the Chairman of Starwood Hotels yesterday on
CNBC discussing the Hotel Business. Starwood by the
way is an extremely large player if one doesn’t know
them. His statement was “discussions with lenders
concerning building of a new hotel in the US is now
a four letter-NO”. Stated they are looking at London
and the far east for the next several years for their
    investments. Just saying —–

And…Karl (Marx) Dean is spending one billion dollars of Nashvillians money to get into ths business! Is there anyone out there that thinks that this is a totally hairbrained idea? Dean is paying back his cronies for support in the Mayors race two years ago. Big Corporations can no longer justify multi milion dollar conventions when thier share holders 401K’s are in the tank…in fact Barak Obama will point you out as a bad CEO if you hold one! Furhter…Las Vegas is selling rooms in top notch Casinos for $69 a night and GIVING the meeting space for your conference to you at no cost so they can make their money off of you in the Casinos. So….again I ask…Why is Karl Dean spending One Billion dollars of our money to get into a business that must compete with Las Vegas and their Free Space give-away? How are the tax payers going to pay this cost back when the center loses money? I’ll tell you how…huge property tax increases. Dean has to go! We need new leadership!
