Principal muscles in on local health insurance market

Iowa-based financial powerhouse Principal Financial Group is rolling out a medical provider network to take on market leaders BlueCross, Cigna and United.

The Lovelace Health System in Albuquerque has signed a six-year deal with IT provider TriZetto, a firm in which BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee has a stake. TriZetto will consolidate the Ardent unit’s claims, enrollment, billing and other services.

KVB nabs national awards

Katcher Vaughn & Bailey tells us of three awards won for work on behalf of BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee and the Nashville Symphony.

BlueCross’ 2008 open enrollment campaign for its employees earned a Gold Quill Award for excellence in employee/member communication, presented by the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC), and a Silver Anvil for excellence in internal communications, presented by the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA). The Nashville Symphony integrated communications campaign, which KVBPR partnered with Locomotion Creative to develop, received a Silver Anvil Award of Excellence from PRSA.

BlueCross adding jobs on West End

The health insurer has set up a local outpost of its commercial operations to handle its accounts with Nissan, the state, Metro teachers and others. The group, which is based at BCBS’ offices on West End, is expected to grow to 60 people.
