Brentwood lab gets nod for H1N1 test

Diatherix CEO Dennis Grimaud said the testing panel also can identify any co-infections like pneumonia, which have contributed to many H1N1 deaths.
Jamison Bedding eyes China growth

Venerable local mattress manufacturer Jamison Bedding has found a distribution partner to help it crack the Chinese travel market as well as its potentially massive emerging middle and upper classes.
Mattress exports are not common, as shipping costs add up and sleep sets are bulky items to ship. But targeted programs, like the one Jamison is launching, can achieve success, bedding observers say.

A Brentwood-based trio of veteran engineers and business development execs top Forbes‘ list of America’s Most Promising Companies. Pictured above are Robert Tryon, left, Loren Nasser and Animesh Dey, who founded Vextec nine years ago and have in recent years begun building a strong base of commercial customers for their modeling software business.
Their aim: to hasten the design of everything from engine parts to medical devices–all while slashing research-and-development expenses and even opening doors for new competitors.

City commissioners have voted to give themselves the authority to take over unfinished homes. You know, the eyesore kind.
“It’s certainly conceivable, especially with the economy the way that it is, there could be other abandoned construction projects.”

With its expanding national business, company officials opted to re-locate to a more centrally located city and Nashville, with its modern and convenient airport, was an ideal fit.

The firm marked the occasion by making a gift to the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Swiftwick, which makes compression socks for athletes, has jumped I-65 and moved into Maryland Farms space. The company had been housed at the offices of Guy Brown Products.

Brentwood’s Bell brings low bid on 840 project

Bell & Associates Construction of Brentwood has been awarded an $87.3 million contract to build the next section of State Route 840 in Williamson County.
Bell was one of seven contractors bidding on a seven-mile section of the road between Leiper’s Creek Road and Columbia Pike. The company could begin staging for construction in the coming weeks but can’t begin moving earth until April.
