GDP growth tops estimates

The consensus from economists on third-quarter economic acticity had been growth of 3.3 percent. The Bureau of Economic Analysis says it was a little higher than that, with the auto industry — thanks to cash for clunkers — accounting for almost half of the growth.

Nashville income growth cut in half

The Bureau of Economic Analysis says Nashvillians’ incomes grew 3.3 percent in 2008, barely half the 5.8 percent of 2007. That number was right in line with the U.S. average and puts our MSA 76th in the country.
