BNA airline fees may rise

Airport Authority operations chief Monty Burgess says he’ll likely ask passenger carriers to pay higher landing fees to make up for the loss of China Airlines’ cargo traffic.

From the Metropolitan Nashville Airport Authority:

China Airlines has notified Nashville International Airport (BNA) that it will suspend cargo operations at the airport effective July 31. This suspension, which may be reversed as the economy rebounds, is a result of decreased levels of outbound cargo due to the challenging economic environment. China Airlines has operated at BNA since 2001.

The auto maker – which is in the process of being acquired by a Chinese conglomerate – says it will likely pick either Detroit or Nashville for its headquarters, places where its CEO says “other automotive manufacturers have chosen to collect.”

Hmm, ya think China Airlines flying cargo into BNA on a very regular basis might help us here?
