MAC Presents gets presented with an award

Music sponsorship and fulfillment agency MAC Presents has been given Billboard’s 2009 Concert Marketing & Promotion Award for its work in bringing together Keith Urban and KC Masterpiece/Kingsford.

“It’s an honor to be recognized within the music industry,” states Marcie Allen, President of MAC Presents. “Winning the Concert Marketing & Promotion Award is a testament to the authenticity of this partnership and the value that it brings to the artist, the brands, and the consumer.”

The other six finalists for this year’s award were for tour deals involving Rascal Flatts, Blink-182, Britney Spears and Nickelback as well as two festivals, the Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival and the Virgin Mobile Freefest.

AEG Live stands to lose as much as $40 million from Michael Jackson’s planned London concert series, says Billboard. Three-quarters of a million people bought tickets for the 50-show run that had been scheduled to start next month and word is AEG didn’t have insurance coverage to cover a potential nonappearance by the late pop icon.

The man behind the popular Warped tour wants to bring the same multi-stage model to the country crowd. Look for a scaled-down version of the CMA Music Festival hitting the road in a year or so.

A.C. Entertainment will keep the name and management of Great Big Shows. The combined company’s first big splash is a Riverfront Park concert by the Allman Brothers Band and Widespread Panic in October.

From the Journal, courtesy of Coolfer: Concert and event promoters Ticketmaster and Live Nation are said to be close to agreeing on a merger. The news comes just a few months after Ticketmaster began toying with a model that included no convenience charges.
