State in cash grant to Nashville Entrepreneur Center

The Tennessee Technology Development Corp. yesterday voted to cut a $100,000 check the new Nashville Entrepreneur Center that launched last fall under the wings of the Tech Council and Nashville chamber.
HCA and Microsoft pledge $1.25M to nonprofits
Posted on January 20, 2010 at 3:15 pmHCA and Microsoft Corp. today announced they are contributing $1.25 million in software and funding to Middle Tennessee nonprofits, with Microsoft giving $1 million in software and the Nashville hospital operator providing $250K in cash.
The “Innovation through Technology” grants will go to agencies that focus on primary health, youth and children and workforce development. Finalists were named at today’s announcement and recipients will be announced on March 19.
CVS cuts a check to Matthew Walker, Agape

More than $800K for local banks’ foreclosure, affordable housing work
Posted on September 25, 2009 at 1:02 pmThe Federal Home Loan Bank of Cincinnati has awarded a consortium of six banks and the Woodbine Community Organization more than $160,000 to help area homeowners avoid foreclosures. The wholesale bank also signed off on four grants that will help finance the creation of almost 50 affordable housing units in Davidson, Williamson and Wilson counties.
Last year’s grant helped more than 80 families avoid foreclosure. “The need has not dropped off,” said Cathie Dodd, Executive Director of Woodbine Community Organization. The first wave of homeowners seeking counseling had mortgages they were unable to handle financially, she said. Now, more homeowners have lost their jobs and fear losing their homes. “It’s not just low-income people. It’s happening to everybody,” Ms. Dodd said.

Dollar General foundation hands out almost $5M
