Avenue hires two for mortgage unit

Bill Long and David Kazmerowski have joined Avenue Bank’s mortgage division. Long comes to two-year-old Avenue from Magna Bank’s Brentwood office, which was recently sold to Reliant Bank. Before that, he was the longtime head of SunTrust Mortgage Co.’s local operations. Kazmerowski returns to the banking world from the commercial real estate sector, where he was most recently VP at Browning Inc.

The Brentwood-based bank has completed its acquisition of Magna Bank’s Maryland Farms office. Next up are offices in Franklin (slated for October) and Green Hills (January) that will have the three-year-old bank hiring another eight people, pushing its payroll over 60.

Memphis’ Magna Bank is retreating, local player Reliant – which raised fresh capital early this year – is adding to its Franklin-Brentwood-Nolensville footprint.
