Oh, and by the way…
Posted on March 2, 2009 at 12:43 pmInteresting how the White House chose to unveil Tennessean Nancy Ann DeParle as the head of the White House Office of Health Reform AKA “Health Care Czar.”
While the news of President’s pick for HHS Secretary, Kathleen Sebelius, had leaked out over the weekend it was her picture that graced the official blog post and her bio that topped the release.
The big news of DeParle as heath care czar was treated as almost an aside even though many observers have speculated that from a health care policy perspective, DeParle’s position while not technically cabinet level could be seen as just as influential.
Could the reason for the underemphasis possibly be the fact that she is stepping directly from a spot at a venture capital firm into a role developing a Democratic administration’s health care policy?
UPDATE: Politico reports that DeParle will “resign from her board posts, and recuse herself from any matters that could present a conflict.”
