Southwest cutting BNA-California flight

Between now and next summer, American Airlines will shed what it says are unprofitable routes. Among them is the carrier’s direct flights between Nashville and St. Louis, where it is dismantling a hub operation.
Southwest adding local flights

Southwest Airlines has notified Nashville International Airport (BNA) of flight adjustments to their seasonal schedule in early 2010. Southwest will add an additional flight from Nashville to Orlando and one to Phoenix from Jan. 10, 2010, to March 12, 2010.
Southwest Airlines announced the following seasonal changes to flights from Nashville, effective Jan. 10, 2010, and March 12, 2010:
· Nashville to Orlando – From 4 flights to 5 flights
· Nashville to Phoenix – From 2 flights to 3 flights

China Air out at BNA

China Airlines has notified Nashville International Airport (BNA) that it will suspend cargo operations at the airport effective July 31. This suspension, which may be reversed as the economy rebounds, is a result of decreased levels of outbound cargo due to the challenging economic environment. China Airlines has operated at BNA since 2001.
Southwest, American tweak BNA schedules

Hardaway to lead airport renovation job

The Airport Authority has picked Hardaway Construction to handle the second renovation phase of BNA’s terminal and concourses, a project that at its peak will employ 125 people.

A sidebar to a Site Selection magazine story on Wacker Chemie’s choice of Bradley County for a polysilicon plant mulls the possibility of a regional airport for the Chattanooga area.
“I can’t see any reason they wouldn’t support that,” says Ross Tarver, chairman of the Cleveland/Bradley Industrial Development Board. “Given the level of visibility of the Tri-cities — Chattanooga, Cleveland and Dalton [Ga.]. There’s a little hub right there, and it’s gaining a lot of attention.”
Orlando approves incentives for plane base
