The Dispensary of Hope, a six-year-old distributor of excess drugs backed by Saint Thomas Health Ventures, has opened its 36th site in Binghamton, N.Y.
Central Parking gets zippy with it

The Nashville-based company is reserving more than 1,000 parking spaces for Zipcars at many of its New York and New Jersey facilities.
Central Parking and Zipcar also will work together to market the preferred program to office buildings, universities, hospitals, residential buildings and developers to promote the convenience and environmental benefits of car sharing. The two companies plan to complete similar agreements in other cities later this year.

Billy Frist and his wife, Jennifer, have made news in New York with the purchase of an antique photograph showing a scene of what is now the Upper West Side. Billy is a son of HCA co-founder Tommy Frist and replaced his father on the hospital giant’s board early this year.

Plans and instructions for the bank’s contractors, on file with the city, specify the installation of at least one Sub-Zero Inc. refrigerator and icemaker in the renovated space, along with “premium grade” millwork and Madico Inc. “Safety Shield 800” blast-proof window film. The project encompasses 17 private offices, each with space for administrative assistants, as well as two conference rooms and open areas with “soft seating,” according to the plans.

During the 2001 recession I knew things were getting better when I noticed lots of men sporting tans. I called it the hedge-fund tan. The tanned men I spoke with had lost their jobs at big banks, used their severance to take a long holiday, and just returned to work at a hedge fund. But for now, the New York man remains pale and stubbly (note—this was always the look in much of Brooklyn).
