HealthTeacher went down to Georgia

Community Health Works announced that teachers in Houston and Bibb County will be the first of seven central Georgia school districts to have access to HealthTeacher’s comprehensive K-12 online health education curriculum with the goal of improving the health literacy of children and teens in Central Georgia. The partnership will eventually encompass approximately 4,200 teachers in 105 participating schools across 7 districts.

Shmerling adds to HealthStream stake

Nashville entrepreneur and HealthStream director Mike Shmerling this week boosted his stake in the online health educaton provider by almost 10 percent. Shmering now owns almost 0.6 percent of all HealthStream shares (Ticker: HSTM), which have risen more than 90 percent this year.

Trevecca launches IT degree

Trevecca Nazarene University this week launched a 17-month bachelor’s program in computer information technology. The course work will be split evenly between the classroom and online and students will meet once a week.

PureSafety training Habitat volunteers

The local safety education provider will train the nonprofit’s homebuilders for free for three years.

Over the past few years, PureSafety has provided its online Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) 10-Hour training to many of the Nashville Area Habitat for Humanity Supervisors on Site (SOS) at no cost. In November 2006, PureSafety provided online training for all volunteers for Whirlpool Building Blocks, a week-long blitz build of 10 homes on one block. PureSafety’s support of the Whirlpool Building Blocks program has continued since the inaugural build in Nashville.

HealthTeacher inks Arkansas deal
