Quorum prepares to hand off Arkansas hospital

Sparks Hospital in Fort Smith, Ark., has agreed to sell itself to Health Management Associates for about $138 million, which means the two Quorum Health Resources who have been managing the 492-bed facility will soon be on their way back to the CHS home office in Brentwood.

Essent gets nod to buy Ohio hospital

After a multi-year acquisition lull and a change in leadership, Essent Healthcare has been chosen as the buyer of a small hospital east of Cincinnati, beating out three other Nashville-area bidders. The parties still need to conduct due diligence and come up with a final purchase price for Brown County General Hospital, which rang up $40 million in annual revenues and would become Essent’s sixth facility.

QHR, Essent make the cut in Ohio

The board of a $40 million hospital east of Cincinnati has voted to conduct due diligence on the purchase proposals submitted by Essent Healthcare and Quorum Health Resources, a division of Community Health Systems. Bids from Brim Healthcare and LifePoint have been moved aside.
Four local firms bidding for Ohio hospital

After rejecting previous bids from LifePoint Hospitals and Quorum earlier this summer, the board of Brown County General Hospital east of Cincinnati has now received four purchase or lease offers — all from Nashville-area players. LifePoint and QHR — a Community Health Systems division — are still in the mix and have been joined by Essent Healthcare and management firm Brim Healthcare.
Earlier this year, CHS and fellow locals Capella Healthcare had indicated an interest in taking over the 60-bed hospital.
