TNInvestco may grow further

Kisber and Farr publicly announced Nov. 5 their intention to pursue an additional $40 million in tax-credit allocations for the two backup funds: Tennessee Angel Fund, closely tied to Nashville Capital Network; and, Solidus-TNInvestco LLC.
In the interim since then, the commissioners are said to have have signaled TNInvestco participants they may be willing to pursue a further $40 million to cover the remaining two TNInvestco finalists that were not among the six outright winners: Memphis Biomed Ventures Tennessee; and, NEST-TN LLC.
TTDC envisions its own 2.0

Among the ideas being floated is an intermediary role piggybacking on the new TNInvestco program.
… TTDC management has raised the possibility of asking the TTDC board to consider supporting the spinning-out of TTDC’s Tennessee Capital Formation Board, to create the “TCFB IP Holding Company,” which could help manage the licensing of intellectual property from universities, research institutions and companies to entrepreneurs.
Joe Freedman is launching companies again
Posted on October 16, 2009 at 8:17 amApparently seeking to claim once and for all the title of Nashville’s serial-est entrepreneur, Joe Freedman tells Milt Capps about three new ventures in the legal services arena. And he’s not afraid to say where he doesn’t expect to snare funding for them.
He said his professional networks in New York City, Los Angeles and elsewhere make it much easier for him to raise money in those cities than in Nashville, where investors are “so healthcare-ingrained,” not familiar with software-as-a-service (SaaS) startups, and “too damn nice” to give you a quick No, when they’ve made their decision.

Milt Capps reports that the angel investors that last year helped launched a Nashville Capital Network sidecar fund are now also backing Tennessee Angel Fund, a statewide investment vehicle that is angling for a share of the TNInvestco funds the state will dole out.
