A day after the news hit that Rockhouse Partners will co-operate the Tennessee State Fair this year, the company issued a news release announcing the hiring of Chrysty Fortner and the launch of its division focused on festivals and fairs.

Of course, several of the news outlets mentioned Fortner in their coverage Tuesday, identifying her as director of festivals and fairs, knocking the wind out of the presser. But in case you didn’t catch it: Fortner was previously director of marketing and sponsorships for the Tennessee State Fair, after roles with the Nashville Speedway, NASCAR and the Walt Disney Co. She’ll oversee sponsorship and sales activation for Rockhouse’s live event clients.

Lyric Street spikes sister label

After barely a year in business, Carolwood Records has shut its doors. The label, launched as a way to build a “consistent product flow,” will move its artists and several key execs to sister company Lyric Street. Well, ‘move’ might be too strong a word; the Disney-owned labels share office space at 12th and Demonbreun.

Gaylord gets Disney as D.C. neighbor

The House of Mouse has spent $11 million to buy land in the National Harbor complex that houses Gaylord’s largest resort. Disney plans to build a hotel resort there, but won’t commit to a time frame just yet.

Disney is partnering with T. Rowe Price to build a new exhibit at Walt Disney World’s Epcot resort.
